Post Doc Position: Tumor Treating Fields in mesothelioma

Rozzano, IT, 20089

POST-DOC Position. Tumor Treating Fields in mesothelioma: mechanisms and novel rational drug combinations

A post-doc position will be available starting from July 2021 for two years in the Cancer Pharmacology Lab directed by Prof. Maurizio D’Incalci at Humanitas Research Hospital in Milan.

The selected candidate will work on a project focused on malignant pleural mesothelioma and he/she will explore new possible strategies for the treatment of this disease.

New devices based on low intensity and intermediate frequency electric fields (Tumor Treating Fields – TTFields) demonstrated a good activity in several solid tumors, including mesothelioma and this project will investigate the mechanism of action of TTFields and its interaction with genes/pathways involved in cell cycle regulation, cell survival and DNA repair. Mechanistic insights will help identify synergistic combinations of TTFields with specific chemotherapeutics and the most promising treatments discovered in mesothelioma cells in culture will be also tested in vivo.

The project will allow an exciting interaction with an international network of scientists that are working on TTFields.

We are looking for a highly motivated and independent researcher with a Ph.D. in biology, or a related field. Candidates must have good expertise in cellular biology, molecular biology, biochemistry and in gene editing techniques.

The postdoctoral researcher will work under supervision but will be expected to lead methods development, lead manuscript writing efforts, conduct independent research and supervise junior researchers.
