PNRR_Laboratory Technicians in Cell Biology
Rozzano, IT, 20089
The position subject to selection is based on the funds of the National Plan for Complementary Investments (PNC) complementary to the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (DECREE-LAW No. 59 of 6th May 2021), relating to the "Innovative Health Econosystem" Program Unique investment code: PNC-E.3.
The investment aims to create an innovative healthcare ecosystem through the formation of clinical-transnational networks of excellence capable of creating a common pool of available technologies and existing skills in Italy and to create interventions on which to focus the attention of public and private entities that work in synergy to innovate, develop and create highly qualified jobs. Two macro-actions are envisaged, one relating to the creation of a network of technology transfer centers and the other relating to the strengthening and qualitative and quantitative development of the Life Science Hubs. Furthermore, this intervention foresees the creation of an anti-pandemic hub. The innovative element of the approach adopted lies in the structured role as a "guide" of the Ministry of Health in defining the intervention priorities on which to concentrate the effort. The project will be developed in coherence and collaboration with the research ecosystem programs proposed by the Ministry of University and Research (MUR) and the technology transfer programs proposed by the Ministry of Economic Development (MISE), also through joint initiatives. The investment is part of the programs financed by the National Plan for Investments complementary to the PNRR (PNC).
National Plan for Complementary Investments (PNC) to the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (DECREE-LAW 6th May 2021, n. 59). "Innovative Health Econosystem" Program Unique Investment Code: PNC-E.3. The activities relating to the position set out below refer to the qualitative and quantitative strengthening and development of life science hubs distributed geographically in the various parts of the country (North -Central -South of Italy) ("LSH") and in particular to the life science hub, operating in the Advanced Diagnostics sector ("LSH-DA"), dedicated to the support and development of research activities in the field of new diagnostic technologies, both instrumental and imaging, aimed at improving the diagnostic capabilities of pathologies.

Project Description:
The research group of Prof. Luca Di Tommaso (luca.di_tommaso@hunimed.eu) based at Humanitas University, Milan, Italy, is seeking one highly motivated Laboratory Technicians in Cell Biology (100%) to join our team of molecular biologists, pathologists, and clinical fellows from January 2024.
The candidates will develop, optimize and apply cutting-edge cellular/ molecular methods to generate 3D in vitro and ex vivo tumor models that adequately recapitulate the tumor architecture and mimic the cell-to-cell interactions within the tissue microenvironment. The specific tasks will include the generation and maintenance of patient-derived tumor organoids, patient-derived tumor fragments, fibroblasts, endothelial cells, Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cells (PBMCs), and Tumor Infiltrating Lymphocytes (TILs).
Professional profile:
- "Laboratory Technician" degree or a Bachelor/Master degree in molecular biology, biotechnology or a related discipline
- Excellent technical expertise in molecular/ cell biology techniques
- Hands-on experience handling and processing patient samples
- Hands-on experience with cell culture and flow cytometry techniques is a must
- Experience in primary cell culture and 3D cultures is highly desirable
- Technical expertise in organoid generation and maintenance is a plus
- Once trained, the ability to work independently
- Organized and detail-oriented; ability to maintain accurate documentation of experiments and sample information
- Collaborative; ability to work effectively in a team.
- Good organizational skills and ability to multitask
- Fluency in English is a must
Main Activities:
- Processing patient-derived samples according to pre-established guidelines (e.g., tissue dissociation, isolation of PBMCs/ TILs, endothelial cells, sample freezing and storage, nucleic acids and protein extraction, and patient-derived tumor organoid/ fragment generation and maintenance)
- Generation and maintenance of cell cultures and execution of experiments on cell cultures
- Updating the database of patient samples and reagents
- Documenting the experiments
- Providing general support for lab maintenance within the scope of this project
On the basis of the profiles received and in the terms indicated by this notice, Humanitas will activate the selection process by inviting suitable candidates to participate in selection interviews, after verification of the cv and qualifications, which will be held in presence or in telematic mode.
The selection committee, composed of the Project Manager and the Human Resources Department, will take charge of the overall evaluation of the applications received.
