Laboratory Technician - Translational Microbiology

Humanitas University and Humanitas Research Hospital (IRCCS) invite applications for a Laboratory Technician in translational microbiology.

The position will be hosted within the newly established Microbial Systems & Human Interfaces (MSHI) Laboratory, led by Dr. Sara Carloni. The lab focuses on how bacterial systems program human biology, with particular emphasis on bacterial extracellular vesicles (BEVs) and host–microbiota interactions at barrier interfaces.

The selected candidate will support the experimental and organizational activities of the lab, contributing to microbiological, molecular, and clinical sample workflows.

 

Main activities

  • Support laboratory setup, organization, and daily operations
  • Culture and handling of aerobic and anaerobic bacteria
  • Processing of clinical samples (feces, blood, tissues)
  • DNA/RNA extraction and basic molecular biology techniques
  • Support BEV isolation and characterization workflows
  • Management of samples, reagents, and laboratory documentation

 

Candidate profile

  • Degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Microbiology, or related fields
  • Hands-on experience in laboratory work
  • Experience in microbiology and/or molecular biology is preferred
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently
  • Interest in translational and clinically oriented research
