Junior Science Communication Specialist

Humanitas Research Hospital is a highly specialized research and university hospital. It is the first Italian hospital to be certified for its excellence by the Joint Commission International as an Academic Hospital. The hospital hosts a research center and supports the residency programs and clinical training of Humanitas University, an international medical school known for its real-world, simulation-based approach to medical training.

Humanitas Research is made possible by the daily efforts of more than 500 physicians, biologists, physicists, data scientists, and technologists working in the hospital wards and across 10,000 square meters of high-tech laboratories at the Humanitas University campus. Their mission is to advance science and make a difference in patients' lives across five main areas: cancer, immunology, neuroscience, gastrointestinal medicine, and molecular cardiology.

We are seeking a highly motivated Science Communicator to join our communication team. We are looking for someone with a background in science and a strong passion for writing about research and for effectively communicating complex scientific concepts to diverse audiences, both internally and externally.

 

Key activities:

  • Write, edit, and review content for a variety of channels and for diverse audiences, from general public to researchers – including news reports, press releases, newsletters and social media posts;
  • Update the institutional website of the Humanitas research area;
  • Support the team in the development and implementation of hands-on activities and science exhibits for science festivals and school outreach programs;
  • Organize and promote science communication and dissemination events, such as workshops and seminars, both internally and externally;
  • Monitor and report on the effectiveness of both science dissemination and public communication strategies.

 

Requirements:

  • A master degree in life science or related field;
  • Proficiency in English and Italian;
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal;
  • Ability to translate complex scientific concepts into engaging and understandable content for non-specialist audiences;
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
