JUNIOR FELLOW Neurodevelopmental Biology Lab

Milano, IT, 20159 Rozzano, IT, 20089

The Laboratory of Neurodevelopmental Biology directed by Dr. Simona Lodato at Humanitas University is currently seeking a junior fellow to start his/her scientific activity in the field of cortical development research. The position is immediately available. The selected candidate will work with a dynamic group of young scientists focused on investigating cortical development and neurodevelopmental disorders using 3D brain organoid models.

We are looking for a highly motivated young researcher with a degree in biology or a related field with a short term hands-on experience in the following areas: molecular biology, cellular biology, and immunohistochemistry. Candidates publications are well accepted.

A successful candidate should develop: i) ability to work as part of a team; ii) strong organizational skills; iii) excellent critical thinking abilities, and a desire to push the boundaries of existing knowledge. We offer a specific translational project to dissect the molecular and cellular hallmarks of early developmental and epileptic encephalopathies in order to identify the effect of patient specific mutation causative of these devastating disorders. The project is based on the generation of patient-derived 3D cortical organoids and their characterization at cellular, molecular and functional level. Integration of data obtained by single cell sequencing and spatial transcriptomics will allow to identify susceptible populations and novel targets for personalized therapeutic approaches.

As part of his/her training, candidate will be included in the context of a stimulating, international research environment within Humanitas University Campus, Humanitas Research Hospital and in collaboration with other national and international Research centers. Fluent English (written and spoken) is required.
